Job summary

Mechanical Commissioning Manager – Melbourne, VIC. Our client, a global leader in digital infrastructure, seeks an experienced professional to oversee end-to-end commissioning of critical mechanical systems for a major data centre project.

Lead HVAC, chilled water and fluid distribution commissioning, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliability, efficiency and safety in hyperscale infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning, preferably in data centre or mission-critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and complex mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards, industry codes and sustainable building practices (Green Star, LEED).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of mechanical commissioning across HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems.
  • Review mechanical design and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and performance.
  • Develop and approve test scripts for mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with local and international standards.
  • Manage commissioning consultants (CxAs) and interface with vendors during FATs/FWTs and installation.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections and troubleshoot performance issues during system integration and commissioning.
  • Ensure commissioning documentation is thorough and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with operations to ensure smooth handover and readiness for live operations.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Manager to oversee the end-to-end commissioning of critical mechanical systems for a major data centre project in Melbourne. This position is instrumental in delivering high-performance HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems that meet the stringent reliability, efficiency, and safety standards of hyperscale infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and execution of mechanical commissioning across HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems.
  • Review mechanical design and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Develop and approve test scripts for mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with local and international engineering standards.
  • Manage commissioning consultants (CxAs) and interface with vendors during equipment FATs/FWTs and installation.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections and troubleshoot any performance issues during system integration and commissioning.
