Job summary

Keisan Refrigeration is seeking a qualified Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician to service and repair across marine, defence, oil & gas, commercial and industrial environments. You’ll diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance and commission systems on vessels and land facilities, with opportunities to travel and relocate if needed.

The role emphasizes safety, quality and compliance, with training and development available and a path to grow within Keisan Refrigeration and Griffin

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent trade qualification.
• ARCtick Licence.
• Restricted Electrical Licence.
• Driver's Licence.
• White Card / Construction Induction Card.
• Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to obtain and pass a National Police Clearance.
• Experience working in marine or industrial environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems across marine, defence, oil & gas, commercial and industrial environments.
• Perform preventive maintenance, routine servicing and fault-finding.
• Install, commission and test refrigeration and ventilation systems.
• Carry out refrigerant recovery and charging per ARC requirements.
• Electrical testing, component replacement and minor wiring within licence scope.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specs.
• Use diagnostic gauges, instruments and digital job management systems.
• Maintain accurate service reports and safety/compliance records.
• Identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain tools and vehicles to high standards.
• Work in line with WHS, QA and company procedures.
• Participate in toolbox talks and training.
• Communicate progress and issues to clients and team.

About the Role:

As a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician with Keisan Refrigeration, you’ll work across a diverse range of marine, defence, oil & gas, commercial and industrial environments. A key part of the role is maintaining and responding to urgent breakdowns on refrigeration and air conditioning systems across fleet vessels, helping keep critical equipment operational and reliable.

You’ll be involved in planned maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding, repairs, installations and commissioning across a variety of specialised refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

The role offers plenty of variety, with opportunities to work both on vessels and at land-based facilities, supporting clients across the Northern Territory and interstate. You’ll work with experienced technicians, solve challenging technical problems and gain exposure to equipment and environments that you won’t typically encounter in a standard domestic service role.

This is NOT a FIFO role, you must be based in Darwin or be willing to relocate to Darwin for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose, repair and maintain commercial, industrial and domestic refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Perform preventative maintenance, routine servicing and fault-finding.

Install, commission and test refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Carry out refrigerant recovery, handling and charging in accordance with ARC requirements.

Undertake electrical testing, component replacement and minor wiring works within the scope of your licence.

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manufacturer specifications.

Use diagnostic equipment, gauges, instruments and digital job management systems.

Maintain accurate service reports, timesheets, job documentation and compliance records.

Identify and report hazards, risks, non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.

Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles to a high standard.

Work in accordance with WHS, environmental, quality and company procedures.

Participate in toolbox talks, training, competency assessments and other team activities.

Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors and team members regarding job progress and technical issues.

About you:

Certificate III in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent trade qualification.

Current ARCtick Licence.

Current Restricted Electrical Licence.

Current Driver's Licence.

White Card / Construction Induction Card.

Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.

Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to use computers, mobile devices and job management applications.

Ability to obtain and pass a National Police Clearance.

Strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance.

Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS 4801/ISO 45001 systems is desirable.

Previous experience within a marine or industrial environment is highly desirable.
