Job summary

Powertech in Brisbane is seeking an experienced High Voltage Technician for full-time permanent roles. You will perform commissioning and testing of HV protections, HV plant, and power generation systems, plus protection relay testing in substation environments, while ensuring safety and quality on site.

Ideal candidates hold an unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter/Mechanic licence, a valid driver's licence, and preferably an HV Switching Ticket.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted Queensland Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Licence.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards.
• Proven ability to meet project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.

• Commission and test Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing.

About the Role

• Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.
• Commissioning and testing HV Plant.
• Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing.
• HV Primary and secondary system testing in a substation environment.
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.
• Knowledge of HV/LV Transformer Testing (i.e. Tan Delta/Turns Ratio/SFRA/Dirana/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling)

About You

• Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers Licence.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.
• Proven ability to meet project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
