Job summary

Megavar Pty Ltd is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to join our primary design team in Adelaide. You will work on HV substation primary systems from concept to detailed design, under senior guidance, including line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing and earthing modeling.

We offer exposure to a varied caseload across transmission, distribution, substation and renewables projects, with structured support toward Chartered Engineer status and relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or power engineering.
• 3–5 years' post-graduate experience in HV design.
• Understanding of transmission and distribution standards in Australia.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Interest in Chartered Engineer status.

Responsibilities

• Support HV substation primary design from concept to detailed design.
• Produce single line diagrams and HV layouts with cable sizing and earthing modeling.
• Prepare design reports, power system calculations and proposals.
• Attend site visits and assessment surveys as needed.
• Collaborate with protection, SCADA, civil and commissioning teams on HV projects.
• Develop client and supplier relationships and take on increasing design responsibility.
