Job summary

Murweh Shire Council is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to provide expert advice on human resource management and industrial relations to the CEO, Directors, Managers and staff.

You will lead HR activities including engagement, training and workforce development, while guiding recruitment and retention strategies. The role requires strong communication, confidentiality and a proven track record in public sector HR practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation.
• Experience in industrial relations and internal dispute resolution.
• Strong recruitment, selection and retention capabilities.
• Proven ability to develop staff through training and workforce development initiatives.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism.
• Experience in local government or public sector is highly desired.
• Knowledge of industrial instruments, awards and enterprise agreements is preferred.

• Current 'C' Class driver's licence
• Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Human Resources Management
• Sound knowledge of industrial relations, employment legislation and HR practices
• Experience in recruitment and employee retention
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and to provide excellent customer service
• Experience in local government or a similar public sector environment
• Knowledge of relevant industrial instruments, including awards and enterprise agreements
• Experience developing staff training and workforce improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to support organisational change and promote a positive workplace culture
