Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Place HQ’s People team on James Street is seeking an in‑house HR generalist who will own the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. You’ll support leaders through difficult decisions, guide conversations and ensure a fair, consistent approach across the business.
You’ll partner with cross‑functional leaders, read the room, adapt your style, and drive data‑backed HR actions. If you’re curious, collaborative and thrive in a tight‑knit team, we want to meet you.
Be the go-to HR professional for your own portfolio in a fun, tight-knit People team, working from our James Street HQ.
This isn't your average HR job. We're not after a policy robot. We're looking for someone who can support a leader through a difficult decision, then walk into a tricky conversation and make everyone leave feeling heard. We need someone who sees HR in full colour, not just black and white.
We're the People team at Place HQ: nine humans who are fun, a little bit cheeky, and seriously passionate about looking after the Place network.
Reporting to our Head of People, you'll have your own portfolio and be the HR person your leaders and teams turn to. You'll own the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to performance, employee relations and everything in between.
Think of us as an in‑house consultancy. We advise, guide and influence, but our business owners make the final call. That means your superpower is persuasion, not authority.
You'll partner with leaders at every level, from seasoned operators who've seen it all to newer managers or agents that are still finding their feet. What works for one won't land with another, so you'll need to read the room and flex your style: direct and strategic one minute, patient and hands‑on the next.
We're also big on accountability. We work to agreed SLAs, track our turnaround times and report on how we're tracking against them. We log our hours too, so the business can see just how much value we deliver (spoiler: it's a lot). If you love a bit of data backing up your great work, you'll fit right in.
And we do it all as a team. We share the load, jump in for each other and celebrate the wins together.

We don't want to box you in, because the right person rarely fits neatly into one. We'll be hiring the person, not the resume. If you're a problem-solver who loves collaboration, brings ideas to the table and knows you're a whole lot of enough, we want to meet you.
