At Unyte, we are looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to join our growing business and play a key role in driving safety, environmental and quality excellence across our civil construction projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established HSEQ professional with 7+ years' Australian construction experience, or a high-performing Senior HSEQ Advisor ready to take the next step into management.

If you are looking for a role where you can genuinely influence how HSEQ is delivered, work closely with operational teams and clients, and have a visible impact across the business, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

This is an office-based HSEQ leadership role, with regular travel to projects and sites required. You will work closely with our National HSEQ Manager, project leadership and delivery teams to ensure our HSEQ systems are not only compliant, but practical, effective and embedded across the business.

You will take ownership of HSEQ performance across projects, providing leadership, coaching and expert advice while building strong relationships with clients, project teams, regulators and key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and promote a proactive HSEQ culture across our civil construction projects
  • Provide visible HSEQ leadership, coaching and mentoring to project and operational teams
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, client requirements and company standards
  • Oversee risk assessments, SWMS, high-risk work controls and critical risk management
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and HSEQ leadership activities
  • Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Manage environmental compliance, including environmental management plans, erosion and sediment controls and waste management
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System and Integrated Management System
  • Ensure project compliance with specifications, standards and ITPs
  • Manage non-conformances and drive effective corrective actions
  • Lead internal and support external/client audits
  • Monitor HSEQ performance, trends and key metrics and provide reporting to senior management
  • Develop and implement practical HSEQ systems, procedures and initiatives
  • Ensure alignment with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
  • Build strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve HSEQ performance, systems and culture across the business
About You

We are looking for someone who is more than just a compliance-focused HSEQ professional. You will be a strong communicator, relationship builder and influential leader who can work alongside project teams and clients to achieve the right outcomes.

You will ideally have:

  • 7+ years' experience in HSEQ, with strong Australian civil construction experience
  • Proven experience in an HSEQ leadership position within civil construction
  • Alternatively, you may be a Senior HSEQ Advisor ready to step into a management role and look to make a genuine impact
  • Strong knowledge of Australian WHS, environmental and quality legislation and standards
  • Experience working with Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
  • Strong understanding of risk management, audits, incident investigation and corrective actions
  • Excellent client and stakeholder relationship-building skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to challenge constructively and drive positive cultural change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced IT skills, with confidence using Excel and spreadsheets
  • A1 knowledge is highly desirable, as you will work extensively across different spreadsheets, reporting systems and A1
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS, HSEQ, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Lead Auditor and ICAM or equivalent investigation qualifications are desirable
Location & Travel

This is an office-based position, however regular travel to project sites will be required as part of the role.

We are open to considering candidates who are currently based in other Australian states. For the right person, relocation assistance may be available.
