Job description

THE COMPANY

Our client is a family owned specialist in crane hire, rigging and heavy haulage, working across rail, wind, data centres, road infrastructure and bridges for major contractors. They hold ISO certification for quality, environment and safety, and use a live HSEQ reporting system to give the business visibility of safety performance.

THE ROLE

HSEQ Advisor, reporting to the HSEQ Executive. You will be the trusted voice for crane and rigging crews, the workshop, lift engineers and project teams, working out what matters, bringing people with you and seeing the fix through. That could be at an early pre start, in a depot after an incident or at your desk working through an investigation. It suits someone who earns respect by turning up, asking good questions and giving practical advice, and who is just as comfortable challenging a decision as building trust with a crew.

  • Lead incident and near miss investigations, from evidence gathering through to root cause and prevention

  • Write and improve SWMS, risk assessments, procedures and checklists

  • Support injury management and return to work with workers, managers and treating practitioners

  • Maintain the integrated management system, including internal audits and certification activities

  • Maintain a visible presence at pre starts and toolbox meetings, giving practical advice on risk and controls

  • Analyse HSEQ trends and keep across legislative and regulatory change

  • Apply working knowledge of enterprise agreements and awards where they touch safety, injury management and workforce matters

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent

  • Current Victorian driver licence and White Card

  • Return to Work Coordinator training (Victoria)

  • Willingness to attend sites regularly, with flexibility for early starts and varied hours

  • Work on major rail, wind, data centre, road and bridge projects

  • Join a business that has grown by more than 100 people in the last two years

  • The chance to shape systems and processes while the business is moving, not just maintain them
