Job summary

Michael Page Australia is seeking a high-impact HSE professional to assess and enhance an existing HSE framework across Australia and New Zealand. You will own reviewing, designing, and implementing fit-for-purpose safety policies.

The role involves developing and maintaining HSE documentation, leading risk assessments, incident investigations, and training programs, with a focus on embedding a consistent safety culture across all locations including interstate and NZ operations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in HSE policy development and framework review
• Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation across states (including Tasmania)
• Exposure to New Zealand safety frameworks, or ability to quickly adapt
• Strong understanding of psychosocial risk frameworks and policy development (critical requirement)
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• High level of confidentiality and discretion

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with industry standards and legislative requirements.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations across Australia and New Zealand.
• Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions to minimise recurrence.
• Monitor, analyse, and report on HSE performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Identify gaps and key risks within the existing safety framework and drive initiatives to strengthen controls and outcomes.
• Design and deliver HSE training programs, providing ongoing guidance and support to employees and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain HSE documentation, including policies, procedures, templates, and compliance materials to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
• Embed and uplift a consistent safety culture and standards across all locations, including interstate and NZ operations.
• Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices to enhance organisational HSE capability.
