Job summary

Circular Plastics Australia (CPA), part of the PACT Group, is seeking an HSE Advisor to support Laverton and Altona sites with Group HSE policy implementation and best practice across manufacturing facilities.

The role requires regular site presence, audits, coaching and incident investigations to strengthen safety culture and ensure compliance with Australian regulations. Travel between sites is involved.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Site Leaders across multiple manufacturing sites to implement and maintain HSE standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, risk assessments, and support corrective actions.
  • Provide expert HSE advice, coaching, and training to leaders and employees to strengthen safety culture and compliance.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring effective reporting, corrective actions, and sharing of lessons learned.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on HSE performance, identifying risks, trends, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain a regular site presence and apply a risk-based approach to managing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate health, safety, environmental, and sustainability considerations into business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian legislation, industry standards, and Group HSE requirements across all assigned sites.
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including operational teams, regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support the delivery of key business outcomes through effective site audits, training programs, incident management, and HSE performance reporting.

Job description

Circular Plastics Australia (CPA), part of thePACT Group, is creating a truly circular economy by giving billions of used plastic bottles and containers a new life. Our facilities enable plastic waste to be recycled locally and made into new bottles and packaging, rather than ending up in landfill.

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor provides subject matter expertise and practical support to Site Leadership for bothLaverton and Altona sites. The role supports the implementation of Group HSE policies, procedures and initiatives to foster safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable workplaces.

The position provides a connection between site, divisional and Group HSE activities and supports the consistent implementation of Group HSE systems across the assigned sites. It also supports compliance with relevant Australian health, safety, environmental and sustainability legislation, regulations and industry standards.

The role is primarily site based and requires a regular, visible presence across the assigned manufacturing sites. The allocation of sites may change in response to business priorities, risk profile and operational needs. Travel between sites will be required.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Experience in HSE within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Australian HSE legislation and compliance requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, sustainability, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or Diploma of Work Health and Safety are advantageous.
  • Training and certifications in specific Australian regulations and standards relevant to manufacturing operations (e.g., WHS Act, AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018) are preferred.
