Job summary

South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking a Health Safety and Wellbeing Advisor (Band 6) to provide specialist HS&W guidance across our shire. The role involves investigations, audits, risk assessments and contributing to policy development.

The position is full-time, ongoing, with a salary of $94,663.33 plus 12% superannuation, based at various locations within the Shire. Applications close on the advertised date.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a Health, Safety & Wellbeing role across a diverse organisation.
• Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS or extensive equivalent experience.
• Experience developing and improving HS&W systems with data and reporting.
• Experience conducting safety investigations, audits and workplace inspections.
• Solid understanding of Victoria OHS legislation and compliance in practice.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist HS&W advice and guidance across the organisation.
• Conduct incident and hazard reporting, safety investigations including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments, site audits and inspections to identify and monitor hazards.
• Coordinate and maintain emergency management systems, including signage, warden/first aid registers and evacuation drills.
• Assist in developing, reviewing and improving HS&W policies, procedures, SSOW, and the HS&W management system.
