Job summary

MacKellar Group is recruiting an HR Officer for a site-based, FIFO role at Carmichael Mine in Central Queensland. You will support the HR Superintendent across the mine site, handling documentation, investigations and employee relations while collaborating with payroll and site administration.

The role requires HR experience, tertiary HR/Business qualification, and knowledge of Australian employment laws, Awards, and enterprise agreements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an HR Officer role.
• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Knowledge of employee relations, investigations, performance management and disciplinary processes
• Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements

Responsibilities

• Preparing HR documentation, including investigation outcomes, warnings, performance improvement plans and termination correspondence
• Supporting fitness for work, return-to-work and absenteeism matters
• Building relationships with leaders and employees across site
• Working with Payroll, Travel and Site Administration to resolve employee related matters
• Supporting HR projects, initiatives and continuous improvement activities
• Escalating complex employee relations matters where required

As a HR Officer, you’ll provide support to the HR Superintendent across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing HR documentation, including investigation outcomes, warnings, performance improvement plans and termination correspondence
• Supporting fitness for work, return-to-work and absenteeism matters
• Building relationships with leaders and employees across site

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

• Previous experience in an HR Officer experience
• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Knowledge of employee relations, investigations, performance management and disciplinary processes
• Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements
• Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
• A practical and confident approach to working with leaders at all levels
• Experience in mining, construction, civil, manufacturing or another industrial environment will be highly regarded
