Job summary

The Midfield Group is seeking an HR Driver to join our transport team in Warrnambool, Victoria. You will operate HR vehicles for local livestock transport, ensuring safety, welfare, and compliance across the journey from paddock to plate.

Role offers structured progression from HR toward HC/B-Double operations, with training and ongoing development alongside a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Current HR Driver Licence.
• Demonstrated safe driving record and road-safety awareness.
• Ability to handle livestock or willingness to learn animal handling techniques.
• Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality.
• Willingness to learn and commit to a structured career progression pathway.
• Good understanding of fatigue management and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication with supervisors and team members.
• Physically capable of performing manual tasks related to loading/unloading livestock.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicles for local livestock transport in a safe and efficient manner.
• Load, unload, and handle livestock in accordance with animal welfare standards and company procedures.
• Assist with yard operations, including livestock movement and preparation for transport.
• Conduct pre-start checks and basic vehicle inspections, reporting faults promptly.
• Follow designated routes, schedules, and operational instructions.
• Comply with road safety regulations, fatigue management requirements, and company policies.
• Participate in structured training, mentoring, and competency assessments.
• Progress through the development pathway from HR to HC/B-Double and eventually B-Triple operations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transport activities.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture and continuous improvement within the transport team.
