Orange Sky Australia is seeking a HR Advisor for a 9-month fixed-term contract to support our team across people management and core HR operations. You will partner with leaders to elevate employee experience and ensure compliant, people-first practices.

The role focuses on policy improvement, workplace wellbeing, and facilitating leadership development for staff and volunteers. You bring at least five years of HR experience and relevant qualifications, with a passion for our mission.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' HR experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Not-for-profit sector and distributed volunteer workforce experience desirable but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication with relationship-building skills.
• Hands-on experience handling employee relations matters.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset aligned with Orange Sky's mission.

About Orange Sky

Orange Sky exists to support Australians who are facing challenges in their lives, including homelessness, financial hardship, limited access to laundry facilities or temporary displacement due to a natural disaster. The Role

As a HR Advisor at Orange Sky, you’ll be a key player in fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture, supporting our team on people management matters whilst driving core HR operations. This is a 9 month fixed-term contract.

What you’ll be doing (in a nutshell)

• Elevate Employee Experience: Guide leaders through HR activities that empower our people to thrive.
• Streamline HR Policy & Processes: Optimise our policies, processes and cyclical activities to keep us running smoothly.
• Support Workplace Performance & Wellbeing: Offer guidance on people matters and help ensure our workplace practices align with relevant legislation and internal policies.
• Inspire Through Facilitation: Create and deliver content that builds leadership skills and shares essential knowledge for employees and volunteers.

What you bring to the table

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience (ideally within a fast-paced environment), alongside relevant tertiary or industry qualifications in HR.
• Experience in the not-for-profit sector and working with a distributed volunteer workforce is highly desirable but not essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships and influencing across diverse teams.
• Direct hands-on experience handling employee relations matters.
• Ability to proactively problem-solve to overcome operational challenges, drive positive organisational improvements, and effectively mediate workplace disputes and grievances.
• A proactive, curious and improvement-focused mindset paired with a genuine, authentic commitment to Orange Sky's mission and values.
