Job summary

Yancoal Australia is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our Human Resources team at the Mudgee operation in NSW. Reporting to the HR Superintendent, you will deliver specialist employee and industrial relations support across the site, collaborating with leaders to maintain compliant, practical workplace solutions.

You will interpret legislation, enterprise agreements and site policies, support ER matters, and contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and development

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Industrial Relations, Employment Relations, Law, Business or related field.
  • Experience in employee and industrial relations, HR or workplace relations.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and IR frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret enterprise agreements, awards and legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical HR advice to leaders and employees on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply employment legislation, enterprise agreements, site policies and contracts to support compliant decision making.
  • Support management of industrial relations matters, including union engagement, grievance resolution and consultation processes.
  • Partner with site leaders to support performance management, disciplinary processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, retention and succession planning.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Advisor to join our Human Resources team.

Reporting to the HR Superintendent, this role will provide specialist employee and industrial relations support across the operation, partnering closely with leaders to deliver practical workplace solutions and ensure compliance with employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical and timely HR advice to leaders and employees on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and commercially sound outcomes aligned with site and business objectives.
  • Interpret and apply employment legislation, enterprise agreements, site policies, procedures, and employment contracts to support compliant decision making.
  • Support the management of industrial relations matters, including union engagement, grievance resolution, dispute management, and consultation processes.
  • Partner with site leaders to support performance management, disciplinary processes, and employee development initiatives.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, and succession planning activities to meet operational workforce requirements.
Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Employment Relations, Law, Business, or a related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, industrial relations, human resources, or workplace relations;
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks;
  • Proven ability to interpret enterprise agreements, awards, and employment legislation.
