Job summary

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is seeking a part-time, 16-hour-a-week role in Berengarra Aged Care, Kew. You will support residents with food prep, cleaning and laundry as part of a multidisciplinary team, focusing on resident needs and choices.

Key tasks include meal preparation, hygiene maintenance, kitchen and laundry duties, and adherence to infection control. A Food Handling Certificate and NDIS check (or willingness to obtain) are essential.

Qualifications

• Food Handling Certificate (essential)
• Experience in cleaning, and food and beverage handling/preparation (preferably in an aged care setting)
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Highly developed communication skills
• Previous experience in a hospital and/or residential facility would be highly desirable
• Current NDIS Check, or willing to obtain

Responsibilities

• Prepare short order meals for residents and coordinate daily menu/beverage choices
• Wash residents’ meal plates/kitchen trays and keep kitchen, pantry, equipment clean
• Assist the cleaning team with facility areas including resident rooms, bathrooms, living/dining areas and staff/public spaces
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, dust, wash glass, make beds and clean kitchens to support resident comfort
• Comply with Infection Control procedures
• Assist Laundry by taking trolleys to laundry, washing, drying, pressing, folding and returning laundry to rooms

About the Role

You will provide a range of support services for our aged care residents, working as part of a team to deliver best practice care. We provide a customer focused model, and you will assist with food preparation, cleaning and laundry tasks. You have a passion for positively impacting people's lives, providing assistance and support with services in line with our resident's needs, abilities and choices.

• Assist in preparing short order meals for residents, and coordinate and prepare their daily menu and beverage choices
• Wash residents’ meal plates/ kitchen trays and ensure the kitchen, pantry and all kitchen equipment, including refrigerators/ ovens and benches, are kept clean.
• Assist the cleaning team with the facility, including resident rooms/ bathrooms / living areas/ dining areas and staff and public areas
• Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, detail dusting, glass cleaning , resident bed making and kitchen cleaning to support the comfort of our residents
• Continuedcompliance to Infection Control procedures
• Assist the Laundry team by taking the trolleys to the laundry, washing, drying, pressing, folding and return of residents laundry to their room

The classification for this position will be GV90 ($60,476 per annum pro rata)

Berengarra, a new multi storey 90 bed state of the art residential aged care facility comprises 60 mainstream and 30 Aged Persons’ Mental Health (APMH) beds designed to deliver contemporary best practice person centered care. Berengarra compliments a suite of existing St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne’s residential facilities.
