Job summary

The Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation is seeking a casual housekeeper to support our Sisters’ residences, approximately two days per week on weekdays. You will perform general cleaning, laundry, and meal service while upholding privacy and discretion within a religious community.

Ideal candidates have previous housekeeping experience, are reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with good communication and time management skills. A valid driver’s licence is preferred.

• Previous housekeeping, domestic cleaning or similar experience.
• Reliable and trustworthy with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time and work independently.
• Respect for privacy, discretion and the religious community.
• Good communication and professional demeanour.
• Having a valid driver’s licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning and housekeeping of residences and common areas.
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and shared spaces.
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and routine cleaning.
• Laundry and changing bed linen as required.
• Maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Delivery and service of meals.
• Other reasonable housekeeping duties as required.

Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation – Nudgee QLD

This is a casual position working approximately 2 days per week, generally weekdays. The successful applicant will provide high-quality housekeeping and domestic support within our Sisters' residences.

Key responsibilities

• General cleaning and housekeeping
• Cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and common areas
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and other routine cleaning
• Laundry and changing bed linen
• Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
• Delivery and service of meals
• Other reasonable housekeeping duties as required

About you

• Have previous experience in housekeeping, domestic cleaning or a similar role
• Are reliable, trustworthy and takes pride in their work
• Have a high level of attention to detail
• Can work independently and manage their time effectively
• Have a respectful understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the lifestyle and practices of women in religious life
• Are comfortable working within a religious community and understand the importance of privacy, discretion and respect
• Have a warm, compassionate and respectful approach when working with older members of the community
• Have good communication skills and a professional manner
• Have a drivers licence and a clean driving record
