Job summary

Uniting Tamworth is hiring a Household Dining Assistant to help deliver welcoming meals and dining experiences for residents in our two co-located facilities. You’ll assist with meal prep, service, room setup and resident preferences, while upholding food safety and presentation standards.

This casual role mainly offers morning shifts Monday to Friday, with occasional afternoons; kitchen hours run from 6:30am to 8:00pm, supporting dignity, choice and connection for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or food services, including catering, cooking or kitchenhand roles.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and a passion for nutritious meals.
• Empathetic and adaptable with a commitment to excellent service.

Responsibilities

About Uniting Tamworth:

Uniting Tamworth comprises two co-located facilities operating as a single service: McKay House, home to 60 residents across three households, and Alblas Lodge, also supporting 60 residents across five smaller household clusters. Our dedicated catering team have the opportunity to deliver services from a central production kitchen, while also engaging directly with residents through meal service within each household.

Position Overview:

As a Household Dining Assistant, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our residents. You’ll support meal preparation and service, dining room set-up and resident preferences, while ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation. Through every mealtime, you’ll help promote choice, dignity, independence and connection while contributing to the wellbeing of our residents.

This casual role is primarily Monday to Friday morning shifts, with the potential for occasional afternoon shifts. (Kitchen operating hours are 6:30am to 8:00pm)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Certificate III in Hospitality or an equivalent qualification. (Preferred, not mandatory)


• Food Safety Certificate (Highly Desirable)


• Hands-on experience in hospitality or food services – whether in catering, cooking or kitchenhand roles (Highly desirable)


• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and a passion for preparing quality, nutritious meals.


• Previous experience in community care or aged care is a bonus.


• You’re empathetic, adaptable, and resourceful, with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
