Job summary

Carpentaria is seeking a dedicated House Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of a residential Out of Home Care house in Darwin. You will provide safe, therapeutic and culturally responsive care for children and young people, working on-site with the team to model practice and ensure alignment with each young person’s needs and routines.

The ideal candidate will hold relevant qualifications, have OOHC experience, and demonstrate strong team leadership while applying trauma-informed care

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Diploma of Welfare, or an equivalent qualification in community services.
  • Experience in OOHC, youth services, or child protection environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead practice within a team environment; understanding of trauma-informed care and safeguarding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations and coordination of a residential OoHC house, ensuring safe, therapeutic and culturally responsive care for children and young people.
  • Work from within the house alongside the team to model best practice, provide leadership and ensure high-quality, consistent care aligned with each young person’s routines and goals.

Your new role

The House Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of a residential Out of Home Care (OoHC) house, providing safe, therapeutic, and culturally responsive care for children and young people.

The role is based within the house, working alongside the team to model practice, provide leadership, and ensure consistent, high-quality care aligned with each young person’s needs, routines, and goals.

The ideal candidate
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Diploma of Welfare, or an equivalent qualification in community services.
  • Experience working in OOHC, youth services, or child protection environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead practice within a team environment.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and safeguarding practices.
