Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Drifter in Melbourne is seeking a friendly Host to welcome guests, guide them through check-in and check-out, and share local recommendations.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team, with opportunities to learn through an online platform, and may assist with coffee making or room turnover as needed. Mandarin skills are a bonus, and hours include overnights and weekends, with a 24/7 guest presence.
Welcome to Drifter, Australia’s newest hospitality playground designed for free spirits and adventure-seekers. Drifter is a new breed of accommodation, blending the boutique comfort of a hotel with the community-driven spirit of a modern hostel.
It’s not just about a place to stay - it’s about creating vibrant, welcoming spaces where people from all walks of life come together to connect, unwind, and explore. And it all starts with a great team.
As a Host, you are the go-to person for our guests. From the first hello to the last goodbye, you are there to guide the way.
You make checking in a total breeze and know the best spots for a bite to eat, night on the town, and where to watch the sunrise. A fount of knowledge and a helping hand, you’re there to make the guest experience one to remember.
From time to time, you might be making coffees, turning over rooms, or cleaning up a spill – there’s no egos here, we’re all in this together.
You are bright, bold and in the know. We value team players who are professional, friendly, and consistent. You work well collaboratively and are happy to take direction but you’re also a go-getter and can see tasks that need completing – you don’t need to wait to be asked.
You’re friendly, approachable and always happy to have a chat with our guests. Having been in the game a while, you know how to impress guests and connect with people from all walks of life. A busy environment doesn’t faze you. You’re adaptable and a natural problem-solver.
Mandarin language skills would be a real bonus for this role. We welcome guests from all over the world, and with a growing number of Mandarin-speaking guests staying with us, having another language in the team would help us create a more inclusive and connected guest experience.
You’ll need to be flexible with your hours, including overnight and weekends. Drifter is home to our guests 24/7 and we’re there to support them always.
Previous experience in a hotel or hostel environment will be a big plus - especially if you’ve worked with Mews or similar PMS before.
Drifter is a welcoming and inclusive space where people come together to share stories and new experiences. We welcome guests and employees from all races, places, gender expressions and beliefs to be part of our team.
If you take pride in your work, are committed to excellence and want to be part of a welcoming and supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.
