Job summary

Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant at Westmead to support nursing staff with non-clinical patient care, lifting and transport tasks. The role includes assisting emergency response teams, moving specimens and equipment, and ensuring a clean environment across hospital areas.

Applicants will follow health and safety protocols, handle waste, and participate in general cleaning duties to minimise healthcare-associated infections.

Qualifications

• Displays reading and writing of English to enable duties to be performed safely.
• Has ability to push/pull mobile waste bins, beds and trolleys.
• Demonstrate understanding of workplace health and safety, including infection control.

Responsibilities

• Support the nursing team in non-clinical patient care, including lifting and transportation.
• Assist emergency response teams and transport specimens, equipment and supplies.
• Restock consumables and manage waste and cleaning duties.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in hospital areas to minimise infections.
