Job summary

Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is seeking a dedicated Chef to join our Catering team in Sydney. You will prepare meals for patients, staff and visitors, ensuring high quality, safety and presentation while working within a collaborative kitchen environment.

Two rosters are available: part-time and full-time. A strong focus on dietary requirements, hygiene and teamwork is essential to deliver timely, quality meals in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Chef
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar environment
• Sound knowledge of food preparation, food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to follow recipes, menus and dietary requirements accurately, including allergen management
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lead in a busy kitchen environment
• A reliable, positive and professional approach to work
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, safety and presentation
• Willingness to work a flexibly roster Morning/Afternoon and Weekends

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established menus, recipes and dietary requirements
• Ensure meals are prepared to a high standard of quality, taste and presentation
• Assist with food preparation across different areas of the kitchen
• Follow food safety, hygiene and infection prevention procedures at all times
• Ensure appropriate food handling, storage and temperature control practices are maintained
• Assist with stock control, ordering and appropriate storage of food supplies
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately
• Work collaboratively with Catering team members to ensure meals are prepared and delivered on time
• Support the provision of meals that meet individual patient dietary requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain a strong focus on quality and customer service
