Job summary

Southern Cross Care is seeking a Home Care Assistant for a permanent part-time role, 56 hours per fortnight. You will deliver person-centred support to clients in their homes, helping maintain independence with a focus on dementia care.

A current Australian driver's licence and own insured vehicle are mandatory, with travel time and motor vehicle allowance provided. You will join a supportive team, gain access to the Bee Well discounts program, and enjoy salary packaging to maximise take-home

About the role

As a Home Care Assistant, you will provide person-centred, safe, and effective support tailored to each client's unique needs, goals, and preferences. Your primary focus will be empowering clients to maintain their independence and self-determination, enabling them to thrive in the comfort of their own homes.

A motor vehicle allowance and travel time is payable for travel between clients as well as a full working tool kit, including a mobile phone.

About you

• Qualifications: Certificate III in a relevant field (Individual Support - Ageing, Aged Care, or Home & Community Care).

• Experience: Minimum of 3 months of demonstrated experience in a personal care role, with the confidence to work independently without direct supervision.

• Certifications: Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates.

• Transport: A current, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence (C class) and your own registered, fully insured vehicle (essential).

• Clinical Skills: Sound, best-practice personal care skills.

• Specialist Knowledge: A strong understanding of supporting clients living with dementia, including managing challenging behaviours.

• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional time management, organisational skills, and the natural ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families.

• Practical Skills: Basic cooking abilities.

• A basic understanding of Home Care Packages (Highly Regarded).
