Job summary

Southern Cross Care in Adelaide is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality catering for residents. You will assist with food preparation, meal service, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment while adhering to food safety standards.

You will play a key role in creating a positive dining experience by helping deliver meals that meet residents' dietary needs in a welcoming setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in food handling or kitchen roles is preferred.
• Clear English communication, especially with older residents.
• Good time management and ability to work independently.
• Basic understanding of supporting residents living with dementia.
• Respectful, team-oriented approach aligned with our values.

Permanent Part Time Employment / 24 Hours per fortnight

• Week 1 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1600 - 2000

About the role

As a Food Service Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality catering services to our residents. Working as part of a supportive team, you will assist with food preparation, meal service, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.

You play an important role in creating a positive dining experience by helping deliver meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences in a welcoming and comfortable setting.

About you

• Previous experience in food handling or in kitchen roles

• Clear communication skills in English, especially when interacting with older people

• Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently

• A basic understanding of how to support residents living with dementia
