Job summary

Kurbingui Youth Development is seeking a Holistic Counselling Practitioner to deliver trauma-informed, culturally safe support for children, young people and families in Child Safety placements. The role works within a whole-of-family framework to promote healing, cultural identity and wellbeing.

You will conduct assessments, develop case plans, and collaborate with carers, placement providers, and community stakeholders, while ensuring accurate records and outreach across Brisbane and Moreton

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with children, young people and families.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and issues.
• Experience delivering strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support.
• Understanding of child development, child protection principles and family support practices.
• Strong case management, assessment, communication and report writing skills.
• Ability to work with government, NGO and community stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.

• Delivering individual and group non-clinical therapeutic counselling.
• Conducting client assessments, case planning and case management.
• Supporting children, young people, carers and families through culturally responsive interventions.
• Facilitating connections to culture, community, Elders and cultural mentoring opportunities.
• Collaborating with Child Safety, placement providers and community stakeholders.
• Advocating for clients and connecting them with services and supports.
• Maintaining accurate case notes, reports and client records.
• Participating in outreach service delivery across Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions.

About the Role

As a Holistic Counselling Practitioner, you will provideculturally safe, strengths-based and trauma-informed support to children andyoung people in Child Safety placements, their careers, and families. Workingwithin a whole-of-family framework, you will support healing, strengthencultural identity, and help improve social and emotional wellbeing.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Qualificationsin Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work,or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experienceworking with children, young people and families.
• Knowledgeand understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures,communities and contemporary issues.
• Experiencedelivering strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsivesupport.
• Understandingof child development, child protection principles and family supportpractices.
• Strongcase management, assessment, communication and report writing skills.
• Abilityto work collaboratively with government, non-government and communitystakeholders.
• Strongorganisational and time management skills.
• Proficiencyin Microsoft Office and case management systems.

• Hold a current and valid Driver Licence.
• Hold a current Blue Card (Working with ChildrenCheck).
• Hold a current National Police Certificate,issued within the last two years.
• Hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance(Yellow Card) or be willing and able to obtain one.
• Hold a current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Be willing and able to undertake outreachactivities and occasional after-hours work as required.
