Job summary

Waterman Aspen is inviting applications for a Highways Design Engineer to join the London North team. The role focuses on delivering highway design schemes, contributing to projects valued at over £1m, and collaborating with senior engineers across secondments.

You will work with Local Authority standards, be proficient in AutoCAD, and benefit from a development-centric environment with mentoring, training, and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Educated to HND or degree level in civil engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
• Hold or be working towards IEng / CEng etc.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver highway projects including scheme design and construction phases.
• Contribute to engineering projects with values exceeding £1m from initiation through to completion with senior engineer support.
• Apply Local Authority and national design standards and contracts (DMRB, TSRGD, MCHW, etc.).
• Prepare specifications and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
• Proficient in AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience would be advantageous.

• Computer literate particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience of the NEC suite of contract documents
• Knowledge of highway design guidance and standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, TSRGD, MCHW and other relevant codes of practice and design standards
• Ability to compile specifications and Bills of Quantities (BoQ)
• Proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience would be advantageous)
• Full UK/EEC driving licence

Qualifications:

• Educated to HND or degree level in civil engineering BEng/Meng (or equivalent)
• Hold or be working towards an appropriate professional qualification (IEng / CEng etc).
