Job summary

Powertech seeks an experienced High Voltage Technician to join its Darwin office on a Full-Time Permanent basis. The role involves a mix of local, office and field-based work with national project travel.

You will be responsible for commissioning and testing HV protections, HV plant, power generation systems and relays, as well as HV primary/secondary testing in substations and creating detailed technical reports.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted NT Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License.
• Valid Driver's License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.
• Commissioning and testing HV Plant.
• Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing.
• HV Primary and secondary system testing in a substation environment.
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.
• Knowledge of HV/LV Transformer Testing (Tan Delta/Turns Ratio/SFRA/Dirana/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling).

Job Description

This role is a mix of local, office and field-based work and involves national travel on a project-to-project basis. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge.

• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
