Job summary

Powertech is seeking a High Voltage Technician for our Brisbane branch on a Full-Time permanent basis. The role involves commissioning and testing HV protections, HV plant, and power generation systems in a substation environment.

You will conduct protection relay testing, perform HV/LV transformer testing tasks, create technical reports, and ensure safety through JSHAs and risk controls. Queensland license, experience, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.

About the Role

• Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.
• Commissioning and testing HV Plant.
• Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing.
• HV Primary and secondary system testing in a substation environment.
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.
• Knowledge of HV/LV Transformer Testing (i.e. Tan Delta/Turns Ratio/SFRA/Dirana/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling)

About You

• Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.
• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
