Job summary

Nebula Contractors Pty Ltd – Nebula Elec in Sydney’s western area seeks a Senior Estimator to lead end-to-end pricing for HV infrastructure projects including substations, BESS, data centres, and critical network connections.

You will own the estimating process across major MV/HV scopes with a focus on accurate bids, risk analysis, and collaborative pricing models with internal teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• First principles approach to electrical tenders.
• Electrical or Engineering Qualification or solid technical trade background.
• Experience estimating within the Electrical Sector.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong proficiency in estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Own the estimating process across major MV/HV switchyard, substation, and Data Centre projects, from first scopes, to final tender submission, and project handover.
• Prepare comprehensive, technically accurate bids by pricing primary and secondary plant, switchgear, protection networks, and associated works.
• Develop pricing models through close collaboration with internal engineering/project management team and suppliers.
• Conduct detailed risk and scope analysis on incoming specifications.
• Produce detailed quantity take-offs that reflect true project complexities.
• Participating in post-tender contract reviews, commercial reporting, and claims scoping as projects transition into delivery.
• Drive the commercial capability of the business by building and refining scalable estimating processes and pricing tools as our pipeline grows.
• Attend client meetings, nurture these relationships and attend site visits as required.

We're scaling fast, and with that growth we now have the opportunity to welcome an estimator at a Senior level - someone who brings a first principles estimating approach to deliver our high voltage project pipeline.

Some insight into the role.

Based in our Wetherill Park office, you will take end-to-end ownership of our medium and high voltage pipeline, with a primary focus on HV Infrastructure like substations, BESS projects, Data Centres and major network connections. While we also handle broader civil and ASP scopes, your expertise will be dedicated to pricing the electrical scopes.

• Prepare comprehensive, technically accurate bids by pricing primary and secondary plant, switchgear, protection networks, and associated works.


• Develop pricing models through close, continuous collaboration with our internal engineering/project management team and suppliers.


• Conduct detailed risk and scope analysis on incoming specifications.


• Produce detailed quantity take-offs that reflect true project complexities.


• Participating in post-tender contract reviews, commercial reporting, and claims scoping as projects transition cleanly into the delivery phase.


• Drive the commercial capability of the business by building and refining scalable estimating processes and pricing tools as our pipeline grows.


• Attend client meetings, nurture these relationships and attend site visits as required.

Who we're looking for.

You take a first principles approach to your electrical tenders, desirably with exposure to high-voltage environments. Your technical background means you can comfortably work through utility specifications, evaluate protection schemes, and understand how projects are run.

You'll bring an Electrical or Engineering Qualification, or a solid technical trade background.

• Previous experience estimating within the Electrical Sector.


• The ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.


• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.


• Strong proficiency in estimating software.

Remuneration on offer.

$170,000 – $210, 000 + Superannuation. Please note: If your expectations sit outside of this range, let us know - we understand people bring different levels of experience and we're open to discussions within reason.
