Job summary

Queensland Government's Queensland Academy of Sport on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced High-Performance Manager to lead our high-performance programs and support athletes, coaches and performance teams pursuing podium results ahead of LA 2028.

The successful candidate will shape athlete and program plans, monitor progress and work with national bodies to prepare athletes for major competitions, including Olympic and Paralympic events.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working at the highest levels of high-performance sport.
• Strong understanding of the Australian sporting system, athlete development, coaching and performance planning.
• Ability to lead performance discussions and shape athlete and program plans.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and provide practical advice while keeping focus on high performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Gold Coast-based sport programs and support athletes, coaches and performance teams pursuing podium results.
• Prepare Queensland athletes for major competitions and Olympic/Paralympic podium performances.
• Work with multidisciplinary performance teams and system partners.
• Monitor athlete progress and advise on program priorities and resource allocation.
• Provide objective advice and constructive challenge to optimize performance.

With less than two years until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are seeking an experienced High-Performance Manager to lead our Gold Coast-based sport programs and support athletes, coaches and performance teams pursuing podium results.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience working within high-performance sport and be ready to step into the role from day one.

This is an exciting time to join the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and our High Performance Programs team.

With less than two years until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are looking for an experienced High Performance Manager to help lead our Gold Coast-based QAS sport programs and support athletes, coaches and performance support teams pursuing international success. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing Queensland athletes for major competitions, helping them progress towards Olympic and Paralympic podium performances.

We are seeking someone with demonstrated experience working within high-performance sport environments who can step into the role from day one. A strong understanding of the Australian sporting system, athlete development, coaching and performance planning is essential.

Working closely with athletes, coaches, National Sporting Organisations, performance support practitioners and other system partners, you will help shape athlete and program plans, lead performance discussions, support coach development, monitor athlete progress and contribute to decisions about program priorities and resource allocation.

You will be part of a team of experienced QAS High Performance Managers who work across a range of sports and programs, sharing ideas, challenging thinking and helping coaches solve performance problems. The role requires someone who can build trusted relationships, have honest conversations, provide practical advice and help keep athletes and coaches focused on what is needed to perform at the highest level.

We Are Looking For a Person Who

• Has proven experience working at the highest levels of high-performance sport.
• Understands what is required to help athletes perform on the international stage.
• Can work effectively with coaches, athletes and multidisciplinary performance teams.
• Is comfortable providing objective advice, support and constructive challenge.
• Can balance day-to-day athlete and program needs with longer-term performance goals.
