Job summary

City of Newcastle is seeking a Heritage Planner to join the Strategic Planning team in the Planning and Environment directorate. You will assess development applications and provide professional heritage advice to clients regarding development proposals and planning controls.

You will help build the team's understanding of heritage matters and contribute to delivering thoughtful planning outcomes that respect Newcastle’s past and future, with flexible, 35-hour work arrangements.

Due to internal career progression City of Newcastle (CN) has an opportunity for a Heritage Planner to join our Strategic Planning team within our Planning and Environment directorate.

In this role, you will use your expertise to assess development applications as well as providing professional and practical heritage advice to external and internal customers regarding development proposals, statutory requirements, adopted development control plans and general planning, development and building issues.

As a subject matter expert within the team, you will help build the team’s understanding and capability in heritage matters to contribute to a collaborative, high performing environment. Whilst delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting continuous improvement in heritage outcomes across CN.

Remuneration: $119,790.13 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
