City of Newcastle is seeking an Undergraduate Engineer to join the Planning and Development team in Newcastle. The graduate position rotates between the Traffic & Transport Section and the Engineering Assessment Section, providing exposure to transport planning, development engineering, and advisory work to the community.

You will gain experience preparing professional development engineering advice for internal and external customers, supporting the 2040 vision while enjoying a flexible 35-hour

City of Newcastle has an opportunity for an Undergraduate Engineer to join our Planning and Development team

This position will see you make impact in assisting with core projects of our 2040 Community Strategic Plan with the aim to continue to build an attractive city that is built around people and reflects our sense of identity all whilst being supported in achieving your professional goals.

What are the opportunities you will have?

This is a graduate position which will rotate between both the Traffic & Transport Section and the Engineering Assessment Section, which are both within our Planning & Environment Directorate.

Whilst working with the Traffic & Transport Section, you will be assisting the team to:

Assess and determine transport and traffic applications

Gain experience in preparing advice on local and strategic transport traffic planning issues including pedestrian, bicycle, parking, event management, and road freight matters.

Whilst working with the Engineering Assessment Section, you will assist with:

The assessment and determination of development engineering applications, applications to carry out activities and applications for certificates.

This position will see you gain experience in preparing professional and technical development engineering advice to the community, external and internal customers, and management.

35-hour working week with flexible/hybrid work arrangements/model as well as an optional 9-day fortnight

Remuneration: $70,866.98 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
