Job summary

Umwelt in NSW is seeking an experienced Principal Heritage and Archaeology Consultant to lead our heritage team across Newcastle, the Central Coast or Sydney. You will oversee project delivery, coordinate fieldwork, manage budgets and timelines, and provide strategic guidance on Aboriginal heritage and archaeology.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology or Anthropology, consultancy experience, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to mentor

Qualifications

• Degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
• Experience in a consultancy environment preferred.
• Knowledge of State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and guidelines; experience across states is valued.
• Demonstrated leadership with project management and team coordination.
• Strong client relationship management and ability to develop tailored solutions.
• Australian Drivers licence (ideally with 4WD).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of heritage and archaeology projects, overseeing teams and budgets.
• Engage with clients to understand requirements and provide expert advice.
• Engage stakeholders internal and external.
• Present findings to clients and community.
• Apply legislation knowledge to assess significance and develop conservation strategies.
• Mentor junior staff in heritage management and consultancy.
