Harmony Australasia invites applications for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to service, repair and maintain underground mobile plant at CSA Mine in Cobar, NSW. The role covers loaders, trucks, drills and ancillary equipment within a safety-focused team.

The position operates on a 7/7 roster (days and nights) with commute options including residential, DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney. A pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening are required.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent).
  • Experience in underground hard rock maintenance (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic auto electrical knowledge & troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical & hydraulic issues on heavy diesel equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively within the maintenance department to improve fleet reliability.
  • Maintain accurate service records and follow site safety procedures.

  • Loaders (e.g., CAT R2900, Sandvik LH517i & LH621i)
  • Trucks (e.g., CAT AD30, Sandvik TH663i)
  • Drills (e.g., Sandvik DD421 & DS421, Epiroc Simba E70S)
  • Ancillary equipment such as IT loaders, underground agitators, concrete spraying equipment, telehandlers, and light vehicles

Conditions

This is a 7/7 roster (days and nights), and commute options include residential, DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney.

Candidates interested in DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp.

CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs, and clubs for dining out.
