Job summary

Basin Sands Logistics in Broken Hill NSW is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic for its service and maintenance department. You will maintain, diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems on heavy vehicles and plant equipment.

The role requires 3 years of relevant experience and valid Cert III qualifications. Remote-site experience and the ability to work day/night shifts are essential, with a salary range of AU$75,000–AU$85,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a qualified Diesel Mechanic.
• A Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology /Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or relevant.
• Experience in working in a remote location.
• Ability to work day and night shift.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems and hydraulic systems on vehicles and heavy plant equipment.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines and other parts of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks and lubrication.
• Undertake inspections and maintenance on vehicles and plant equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using industry-standard tools.

Job Description

Basin Sands Logistics are currently recruiting for experienced and qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join their service and maintenance department based in Murry Basin, Broken Hill NSW. The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

• Maintain, test and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems and Hydraulic systems on vehicles, and other heavy plant machinery/equipment.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles, construction/plant equipment.
• Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts on vehicles, construction/plant equipment.
• Undertake inspections, assessments and maintenance on vehicles, construction equipment /plant equipment.
• Detect mechanical and electrical fault using industry standard instruments and equipment.
• Utilise OEM manual and procedures to perform repairs and maintenance to required standards.
• Record and report all repairs and maintenance activities on the established documentation and hand to Workshop Clerk on completion.
• Comply with all company safety and health programs.
