Hume Transport in Albury invites a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our workshop team. You will service and repair heavy trucks and trailers, diagnose faults and maintain safety standards.

This permanent role offers stable hours, a supportive team and the chance to work with a long-established Australian transport business. You will have your own basic tools and a pride in quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Must have a recognised trade qualification as Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy trucks and trailers.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Sound understanding of heavy-vehicle safety and maintenance requirements.

Responsabilités

• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and air-system faults.
• Inspect vehicles and trailers for defects and safety issues.
• Complete repairs in line with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct roadworthiness and compliance inspections within your authorisation level.
• Accurately complete service records and maintenance documentation.
• Respond to breakdowns and after-hours calls on a roster.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.
• Collaborate with workshop, fleet and operations to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance


• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and air-system faults


• Inspecting vehicles and trailers for defects and safety issues


• Completing repairs in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements


• Conducting roadworthiness and compliance inspections within your level of authorisation


• Accurately completing service records, job cards and maintenance documentation


• Responding to breakdowns and handling after hours calls on a roster


• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop


• Working closely with workshop, fleet and operational personnel to minimise vehicle downtime

About you

• A recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic


• Experience servicing and repairing heavy trucks and trailers


• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills


• A sound understanding of heavy-vehicle safety and maintenance requirements


• Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work


• The ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Your own basic trade tools


• A heavy rigid or heavy combination licence, trailer maintenance experience and relevant inspection qualifications will be highly regarded
