Job summary

Iluka Resources is seeking a Health & Safety Superintendent for the Balranald Operation. You will lead the health, safety, and occupational hygiene programs, mentoring a multidisciplinary team while ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a proactive safety culture.

The role involves strategic safety leadership in a high-grade mineral sands operation with new mining methods, offering relocation support, parental leave, and a comprehensive remuneration package.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with leading practice HSE management.
• Significant mining industry experience preferred.
• Proven track record of safety, health and occupational hygiene performance.
• Strong understanding of NSW mining legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish, lead and monitor safety, health and occupational hygiene programs and systems.
• Drive the continuous improvement of safety, health and occupational hygiene practices.
• Lead and mentor a small multi-disciplinary team to support mining and processing activities.
• Maintain statutory obligation compliance with regulators.
• Oversee workers’ compensation, injury prevention and injury management processes.
• Influence behavioural change through active site engagement and Safety Visits.
• Manage and audit site compliance to Group HSEC Standards & Procedures.
• Lead/ facilitate incident investigations including ICAMs.
• Review investigations to identify contributing factors and root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and manage First Response capability to meet site needs.
