Job summary

The Safe Step, a respected workplace health and safety consultancy, is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor for their Sydney team to develop clear, compliant safety materials for internal teams and clients across Australia and New Zealand.

You will translate complex legislation into practical guidance, review policies, support audits, and contribute to seminars and training, collaborating with subject matter experts to grow capability and influence safety content nationally.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in WHS is the minimum requirement.
• Diploma in WHS is preferred.
• Strong written communication and technical writing ability.
• Confident engaging with internal stakeholders.
• Current understanding of Australian WHS legislation.
• Proactive, detail oriented and solutions focused.

Responsibilities

• Creating and updating workplace health and safety policies, manuals, procedures, and supporting documents
• Reviewing legislation and providing practical, actionable guidance
• Responding to complex internal queries and offering expert technical advice
• Contributing to training and communication content, including presentations and workshops
• Supporting audits and inspections of safety systems where required

About the Role

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will sit within a specialist team that develops the safety materials used by internal teams and clients nationally. Your work will directly contribute to safer workplaces by creating clear, compliant, and engaging documentation that people can easily understand and apply.

You will collaborate with subject matter experts, support capability building across the business, and occasionally contribute to seminars, webinars, and training initiatives. No two days will look the same, and you will have the chance to take ownership of meaningful, high profile content.

Key responsibilities include:
