Job summary

Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding and creative leader to head the Visual Arts Department at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill. The role involves strategic direction and cultural leadership across exhibitions and programs, reporting to the Deputy Head of Senior School (Academics).

The successful applicant will build partnerships with exhibitions, museums and universities, lead diverse teams, and drive educational programs while upholding child safety and WHS requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience building partnerships with exhibitions, museums, universities or cultural institutions and understanding of curriculum standards.
• Experience in exhibition programming and event management to enhance teaching and learning.
• Experience leading diverse teams of educators and creatives and implementing educational programs.
• Desirable experience establishing or leading a cultural centre or exhibition program with educational roles.
• Sound judgement in budgeting and resource procurement.
• Active professional arts practice is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of WHS policies for exhibition operations.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• WWCC NSW current or willingness to obtain before commencement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Cranbrook School's Visual Arts Department and establish a vibrant cultural centre for the school community.
• Provide strategic direction and creative leadership across exhibitions and visual arts programs.
• Collaborate with students, staff, parents and the wider community to enhance teaching and learning.
• Manage resources, schedule exhibitions, and oversee budgetary requirements.
• Support professional development and promote safe, inclusive practices.
