AFCA, Australia’s independent financial ombudsman, seeks a senior leader to head the Systemic Issues function. In this nationally significant role, you will shape strategy, drive transformation, and oversee governance, risk and reporting while guiding a high‑performing team.

You'll build relationships with regulators, translate systemic insights into industry improvements, and help reduce consumer harm across financial services. Hybrid working with two days in the office is supported.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience managing complex operational, regulatory, legal or financial services functions.
• Proven track record leading large-scale transformation and change programs.
• Strong knowledge of financial services regulation, consumer protection, dispute resolution or related frameworks.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build credibility with regulators, industry leaders and executive teams.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to navigate complex and emerging issues.
• Experience leading senior leaders and building high-performing teams.

• Lead AFCA's Systemic Issues function and drive its strategic direction.
• Develop and implement improvement and transformation initiatives.
• Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic advice to senior executives and key stakeholders.
• Lead governance, risk, compliance and reporting activities.
• Identify emerging trends and issues impacting consumers and the financial services sector.
• Develop strong relationships with regulators and industry groups.
• Use systemic issue insights and data to drive better industry outcomes and prevent future complaints.
