Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks an energetic Head Teacher Welfare to lead student wellbeing and engagement across Chatham High School. You will supervise Year Advisers, support staff, and coordinate with Aboriginal Education teams, building strong community relations and delivering inclusive school programs.

Applicants should demonstrate capacity to manage complex wellbeing, attendance and engagement challenges, and design evidence-informed initiatives aligned with whole-school improvement

Qualifications

• Demonstrated capacity to lead a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to student wellbeing and engagement.
• Lead complex student support and case-management processes, including safeguarding concerns.
• Lead culturally responsive whole-school practices improving Aboriginal student engagement.
• Plan, implement and evaluate wellbeing initiatives using data and student voice.

Responsibilities

• Lead Year Advisers, Student Support Officers and other pastoral roles to support wellbeing.
• Coordinate with Aboriginal Education Team and school executive to strengthen engagement.
• Plan and evaluate evidence-informed wellbeing initiatives and measure impact.
• Develop wraparound support partnerships with external agencies.
