Job summary

Mitchelton State High School, part of the Queensland Department of Education, seeks a focused and dynamic Head of Department - Student Services to lead wellbeing, engagement and inclusion for our students.

Two temporary full-time positions commence on 21 January 2027 and run until 10 December 2027. The role involves strategic leadership, case management and working closely with the Executive Team, staff and the broader school community.

Qualifications

• Experience in student wellbeing and engagement practices.
• Ability to lead teams and collaborate with school leadership.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead student wellbeing, engagement, attendance and positive behaviour initiatives across the school.
• Coordinate case management, intervention and support strategies for students with diverse needs.
• Build partnerships with families, staff and external agencies to improve student outcomes.
• Provide leadership and support to staff in student wellbeing and engagement practices.
• Analyse attendance and behaviour data to inform school improvement strategies.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive school culture where all students are supported.
