Job summary

SUEZ is seeking a senior security leader to oversee security, crisis management, and business continuity across Australia and New Zealand. The role acts as the central contact for security matters, guiding governance, training, and response across sites and corporate functions.

You will own the regional security program, manage personnel and contractor security, and embed security awareness while aligning with SOCI and CIRMP obligations.

Qualifications

• Senior security leader with 10–15+ years in security leadership roles.
• Able to obtain AGSVA Personal Security Clearance.
• Bachelor's or higher in security management or related field.
• Experience in defence, government, or critical infrastructure sectors.
• Proven expertise in physical, industrial, and personnel security and risk management.
• Experience delivering enterprise-wide security programs, including policy, crisis response, and DRP/BCP testing.
• Strong contractor and vendor management experience.
• Membership of professional associations (e.g. ASIS, ASIAL).
• Knowledge of SOCI and CIRMP obligations.
• Excellent written communication and reporting skills.

About the Role

The Head of Security & Crisis Management s accountable for the strategic oversight and operational coordination of security, crisis management, and business continuity across SUEZ’s Australia and New Zealand operations. Acting as the central point of contact for security matters, the role provides leadership across sites and corporate functions to ensure people, assets, information, and critical services are protected.

The position owns the regional security governance framework, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, regulatory obligations, and Security of Critical Infrastructure requirements. This includes leading security maturity assessments, developing site‑based physical security plans, overseeing personnel security arrangements, managing security contractors, and embedding security awareness across the business.

The role also leads SUEZ’s crisis management capability, owning the crisis management process and coordinating the crisis management committee to ensure strong cross‑functional alignment. It is responsible for strengthening organisational preparedness by developing crisis response frameworks, training Crisis Process Owners and crisis unit members, delivering exercises, and continuously assessing and improving crisis maturity.

In addition, the role has responsibility for business continuity and disaster recovery across the region. This includes leading Business Impact Analyses, developing and maintaining Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans, and overseeing their execution during incidents. The role coordinates intelligence gathering, manages alerts and serious event communications, and ensures learnings from incidents and exercises are captured and embedded.

About You

You are a senior security leader with deep experience operating in complex, highly regulated environments. You bring a pragmatic and strategic mindset, balancing risk, compliance, and operational realities while influencing confidently at executive and site levels.

• Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Personal Security Clearance
• Diploma of Security Risk Management or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Bachelor’s degree in security management, Emergency/Crisis Management, Business Administration, or related field (or extensive equivalent experience)
• 10–15+ years’ progressive experience in security leadership roles, ideally within defence, government, or critical infrastructure sectors
• Proven expertise in physical, industrial, and personnel security and security risk management
• Experience delivering enterprise‑wide security programs, including policy, crisis response, BCP/DRP testing, and third‑party assurance
• Strong contractor and vendor management experience
• Membership of professional industry associations (e.g. ASIS, ASIAL)
• In‑depth knowledge of Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) and CIRMP obligations
• Excellent written communication and reporting skills
• Commercially astute with the ability to balance cost, risk, and operational impact
• Strategic, proactive, and solutions‑focused
• Comfortable working across Australia, New Zealand, and global stakeholders at all organisational levels
