ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

12 Months with 12 Month Extension

Corroboree Talent is seeking an accomplished Head of Programs to lead the strategic direction, governance and delivery of a complex, high‑profile program within a Federal Government environment.

This senior position offers significant autonomy and accountability. You will oversee program priorities, budgets, risks and delivery arrangements while providing authoritative advice to senior decision‑makers.

The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with practical delivery experience and be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment involving multiple workstreams, delivery partners and senior stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the strategic direction, design and continued development of a complex program and its related workstreams
  • Oversee program implementation, budgets, governance, procurement, contracts, grants and risk management
  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations and delivery standards
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of program managers, project officers and specialist personnel
  • Monitor program performance and provide regular financial reports, forecasts and delivery updates
  • Provide authoritative advice to senior executives on program delivery, funding, procurement and emerging risks
  • Build productive relationships with government stakeholders, delivery partners, industry representatives and other external organisations
  • Support steering committees and other formal governance arrangements
  • Identify delivery issues early and implement practical, outcomes‑focused solutions
  • Ensure activities are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced senior program leader with a strong record of delivering complex, high‑value initiatives, ideally within a government or similarly regulated environment.

You will bring:

  • Extensive strategic and operational program management experience
  • Experience delivering multi‑million‑dollar, multi‑stream or multi‑jurisdictional programs
  • Strong budget, contract, procurement, governance and risk management capability
  • Demonstrated experience leading staff, contractors and specialist consultants
  • The ability to set strategic direction while maintaining oversight of practical delivery
  • Sound judgement when determining priorities, allocating funding and managing complex risks
  • Experience contributing to strategic initiatives aligned with government policy
  • Strong written communication, reporting and senior briefing skills
  • Confidence engaging with senior decision‑makers, government representatives and external delivery partners
  • The ability to work autonomously, adapt quickly and perform effectively under limited supervision
  • Experience in international, policy, capacity‑building or technology‑related programs will be highly regarded
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
  • Australian citizenship
  • A minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance is required before commencement
  • Ability to work onsite in Canberra
  • Availability to commence as soon as practicable
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS

This position is based onsite in Canberra. Flexible working arrangements may be considered by prior agreement; however, fully remote work is not available.
