The Head of Mathematics (Primary School) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, curriculum oversight, and pedagogical excellence in Mathematics across the Primary School.

The role ensures the delivery of an engaging, innovative, and high-quality mathematics program that promotes strong academic outcomes and a positive attitude towards mathematics. The Head of Mathematics supports teachers in implementing best practice teaching and assessment, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and student achievement. This is a permanent, full-time position starting Term 1, 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and continuously improve the Primary Mathematics curriculum, ensuring alignment with syllabus requirements and school goals.
• Develop and implement a strategic vision that drives excellence in mathematics teaching and learning across all primary year levels.
• Analyse student achievement data to inform curriculum improvements, interventions, and extension opportunities.
• Ensure consistency in curriculum delivery, assessment, moderation, reporting practices, and academic standards.
• Provide instructional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and professional learning opportunities for teaching staff.
• Maintain a teaching load, modelling exemplary and differentiated mathematics teaching that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and numeracy.
• Oversee assessment and student progress processes, supporting meaningful feedback and celebrating achievement in mathematics.
• Foster strong partnerships with parents and the wider school community, promoting mathematics through enrichment programs, events, and whole-school initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (Primary) or equivalent.
• Accreditation with NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• A valid Working with Children Check.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training as required.
• Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up & drop off duties as required.
• Availability to contribute to extracurricular activities and school events beyond regular teaching hours.
