Education, Training & Professional Development

Through involvement in a broad range of activities and experiences, girls experience the joys of teamwork and success. They also experience uncertainty, risk and a healthy quantum of stress which, with the right support, will develop the confidence and resilience which will equip them as young woman to move into the adult world. This approach is reflected in our motto: Per Aspera ad Astra (‘through struggles to the stars’).

At the same time, we encourage girls to look outward and develop connections with others, whether through their involvement in community service, the School’s long-term commitment to education projects in Cambodia or thoughtful reflection on their place in our community, nation and world.

Queenwood was founded in 1925 as a unique place of education for girls, dedicated to giving every student the opportunity to reach her full potential. This guiding principle remains as relevant to Queenwood today as it was then.

From its location on Sydney’s lower north shore, Queenwood offers a special educational experience, combining a rich heritage with a rounded curriculum and a commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.

Queenwood is best defined by its distinctive ethos. This is characterised by collaborative learning and personal development, a focus on care and compassion for others, and encouragement for girls to be the best they can be.

A challenging curriculum, including the International Baccalaureate as an option in senior years, is complemented by a full sporting, pastoral and co-curricular program in shaping girls into confident, self-aware young women.

Queenwood is an internationally minded K to 12 school for girls offering a contemporary liberal education. We aim to develop students who have the intellectual rigour, independence, character and skills to contribute sustainably to the world.
