Job summary

Nib is seeking an experienced Head of IT Risk & Controls to establish and lead the first-line risk capability within Technology & Transformation. Reporting to the Group CTO, you will embed risk ownership, strengthen governance, and ensure IT controls are fit for a rapidly evolving tech landscape.

• Significant experience leading technology risk, IT audit, controls, cyber risk, operational risk or governance functions within complex digital environments.
• Strong understanding of contemporary technology landscapes, cloud environments, cyber security practices and enterprise risk management.
• Experience building or transforming first-line risk and control practices aligned to enterprise frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the first-line Technology Risk & Controls function across nib Group, with responsibility for IT risk ownership, IT controls and IT risk advisory across technology BAU operations and Change programs.
• Embed mature first-line risk management practices, control processes, assurance readiness and reporting aligned to enterprise risk and cyber frameworks.
• Drive a culture of first-line risk ownership and accountability throughout the Technology & Transformation function.
• Partner with business, risk, compliance and cyber leaders to identify, assess, treat and elevate technology risks while supporting Line 2 oversight.
• Maintain first-line oversight of technology control environments including evidence, issue management and remediation plans.
• Coordinate evidence, actions, attestations and remediation activity to support regulatory and internal governance obligations.

As part of this evolution, we're seeking an experienced and influential leader to establish and lead our first-line IT Risk & Controls capability within Technology & Transformation.

This is a newly created leadership role with a mandate to embed first-line risk ownership, strengthen technology governance practices within Technology & Transformation, and ensure our technology environment remains secure, resilient and fit for the future.

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Technology & Transformation Officer, the Head of IT Risk & Controls will play a critical role in helping nib balance innovation, growth with appropriate levels of IT controls and risk management.

As technology, cyber security, data and AI become increasingly central to our business strategy, this role will embed the first-line governance and control disciplines that enable confident decision-making and sustainable growth.

You will:

• Lead the first-line Technology Risk & Controls function across nib Group, with clear responsibility for IT risk ownership, IT controls and IT risk advisory across technology BAU operations and Change programs
• Embed and mature first-line technology risk management practices, control processes, assurance readiness and reporting routines aligned to enterprise risk and cyber frameworks
• Drive a culture of first-line risk ownership and accountability throughout the Technology & Transformation function
• Partner with business, risk, compliance and cyber leaders to identify, assess, treat and elevate technology risks, while supporting effective Line 2 oversight and challenge
• Maintain first-line oversight of technology control environments across areas such as cyber security, operational resilience, information management, third-party risk, change management and technology operations, including control evidence, issue management and remediation plans
• Support first-line compliance with regulatory and internal governance obligations by coordinating evidence, actions, attestations and remediation activity across Technology & Transformation
• Provide practical first-line advice to executives and senior stakeholders on technology, cyber and operational risk impacts, control gaps and mitigation priorities
• Shape and embed first-line ways of working that enable innovation and transformation while aligning to enterprise risk, cyber and governance standards

About you

You're a strategic risk leader who understands how to create strong IT risk and controls governance without slowing progress.

You bring:

• Significant experience leading technology risk, IT audit, controls, cyber risk, operational risk or governance functions within complex digital environments
• Strong understanding of contemporary technology landscapes, cloud environments, cyber security practices and enterprise risk management
• Experience building, enhancing or transforming first-line risk and control practices aligned to enterprise frameworks
• The confidence and credibility to influence executive stakeholders and challenge constructively when required
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear business outcomes
• A pragmatic and commercially minded approach to risk management
• Most importantly, you're passionate about creating environments where innovation can thrive because the right foundations are in place
