Job summary

Randstad in Melbourne is seeking a Head of IT Engineering, Data & AI to relocate to Cairns and lead IT, data and AI strategy for a regional Aviation Hub client, overseeing product builds, data security and vendor management.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, focusing on AI integration, data governance and secure architecture while coordinating with IT Security and external partners; relocation allowance provided.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in application development and data-related fields at senior leadership level.
• Proven track record leading Agile software teams and delivering Agile/DevOps transformations.
• Deep experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and microservices architectures.
• Experience with AI/ML integration, API management and enterprise data platforms (Snowflake, Tableau).
• Strong understanding of data governance, cyber security and compliance frameworks.
• Experience managing third-party vendors, outsourced delivery and SLA/contract performance.
• Excellent stakeholder management, strategic leadership and communication skills.
• Certifications in Azure, Agile (Scrum/SAFe) or DevOps are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority across applications, integrations and data architecture.
• Define and drive execution of overarching Application, AI and Data strategy.
• Provide L2+ support for core integrations, AI models, storage and reporting platforms.
• Lead ITIL release management and CI/CD adoption to accelerate software delivery.
• Oversee vendor relationships, contracts and outsourced engagements.
• Lead end-to-end SIT/UAT and test scenario execution.
