Profusion is seeking a Head of Applications – General Insurance to lead the applications function across a growing underwriting agency and insurance group. You will drive strategic and hands-on technology delivery, align projects with business objectives, and manage end-to-end delivery of initiatives.

Reporting to executive leadership, you will shape the technology roadmap, optimise operations, and build a high-performing team while managing vendors, budgets and risk controls to deliver value

Qualifications

Head of Applications – General Insurance

• Must have General Insurance / Underwriting Agency experience
• Applications Leadership | Technology Delivery
• Permanent – $220k–$250k + Super + Bonus

Role Overview:

• Lead the team responsible for delivering IT application services across a growing underwriting agency and insurance group
• Provide strategic and hands-on leadership across applications, technology delivery, business systems, and ongoing BAU operations
• Manage end-to-end delivery of technology projects, enhancements, integrations, and application improvements across the business
• Partner closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure technology solutions support operational and commercial objectives
• Develop and execute an applications strategy focused on scalability, operational efficiency, process improvement, and getting the most from the existing technology landscape
• Lead and develop a high-performing applications team, with responsibility for performance, engagement, talent development, and building capability across the function
• Manage technology vendors and strategic partners, ensuring effective delivery, commercial outcomes, and strong service levels
• Drive governance across the application environment, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget with appropriate risk, security, and compliance controls
• Identify opportunities for platform consolidation, automation, RPA, and emerging technologies to improve business efficiency and customer outcomes

Skills & Experience:

• Proven senior technology leadership experience within General Insurance, underwriting agencies, or the broader insurance industry – Must have insurance experience
• Strong understanding of the technology and systems required to support underwriting, insurance operations, and claims environments
• Demonstrated experience leading technology delivery, project management, governance, and application services across complex business environments
• Experience across the full SDLC, system integration, enterprise applications, and curiosity for AI and driving automation
• Strong business integration and process improvement capability, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions
• Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams and developing technology capability
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively across both technical and non-technical environments
• Commercial acumen with experience managing technology vendors, budgets, and ideally P&L ownership
