Job summary

Seymour College is seeking an experienced Senior Years Pastoral Care Leader (Clan Guardian) to commence Term 1 2027 in Adelaide, SA. The role combines pastoral leadership with a permanent teaching component to support wellbeing, engagement and personal growth of students in Years 10–12.

You will collaborate with families, teachers and college leaders, mentor student leaders and oversee clan activities, ensuring records are maintained and best practices are followed in a values-driven environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build strong pastoral relationships with students in Years 10-12 and support their wellbeing and engagement.
• Lead wellbeing and pastoral care programs addressing individual and year-level needs.
• Collaborate with families, teachers, counsellors and College leaders to support student outcomes.
• Mentor student leaders and oversee Clan activities, meetings and community-building initiatives.
• Support student transitions, orientation programmes and leadership development opportunities.
• Lead Clan events and contribute to College activities including sporting and community events.
• Maintain accurate pastoral records and manage administrative requirements.

About the role:

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate educator to undertake the role of Senior Years Pastoral Care Leader (referred to as Clan Guardian) commencing Term 1 2027.

In partnership with College leaders, the Clan Guardian works with homegroup teachers to lead and coordinate pastoral care initiatives that promote student wellbeing, engagement and personal growth. You will be a visible and approachable presence within the school community, supporting students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally while helping to strengthen Clan culture and connectedness.

This five-year Position of Responsibility includes a permanent teaching component and should be read in conjunction with the responsibilities of a teaching role. The key responsibilities are to:

• Build strong pastoral relationships with students in Years 10-12 and support their wellbeing, personal growth and engagement.
• Lead and implement wellbeing and pastoral care programs that respond to the needs of individual students and year levels.
• Collaborate with families, teachers, counsellors and College leaders to support student outcomes.
• Mentor student leaders and oversee Clan activities, meetings and community-building initiatives.
• Support student transitions, orientation programs and leadership development opportunities.
• Lead Clan events and contribute to key College activities including sporting and community events.
• Maintain accurate pastoral records and manage administrative requirements associated with student care and wellbeing.
